FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION---IMPACT---The Stories of Jewish Boxers in America---A New Documentary by Award Winning Producer Director James Ford Nussbaum

Come with us as we explore the history of Jewish Boxing in America.  Our cameras take you on a journey to both the past and present as a new surge of Jewish mighty men bring the sport of boxing into your homes while deeply entrenching their own searches for Judaism as well.  We'll meet both young and old Jewish Boxers once dominating the sport and now passing their baton to a new breed of Jewish fighter...ready to win and not afraid to assert their religious beliefs.  We'll learn why Judaism is so important to them both inside and out of the ring and follow several stories of men that hold one common bond amongst themselves...a struggle of determination that surpasses what they have accomplished in both boxing and academics.  It's a story you won't want to miss...Sponsorships are available as this film will air on Cablevision in over 300,000 homes.  Contact GALILEO PRODUCTION'S jnussbaum@galileoproductions.com for more information.

The plight of migratory bats has been an issue currently being brought to the table by many enviornmentalists and government agencies throughout the Northeastern United States bringing awareness to migratory bats found dead in record numbers throughout the New York, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, New Jersey area and now spreading south.  Why is this happening?  What can we do to save the bats and bring about awareness to our enviornment and caves?  Wayne Russell and Julie Roselius are on a mission.  They're just two members of a caving exploration group that have been making a difference bringing their message of cave and bat preservation to the public.  A new film by GALILEO PRODUCTIONS explains more about the cause, a deadly fungus called White Nose Syndrome and what is being done to save caves and bats.  Stay tuned.

Galileo Productions, LLC
Randolph videographer helps clients tell stories

Thursday, April 19, 2007

The job:
James Nussbaum, a producer, videographer and editor, is the founder and executive producer of Galileo Productions in Randolph.

He is a 20-year veteran of broadcast television and has worked with all three networks and cable franchises.

Responsibilities: The job is a balance of interpersonal and technical skills.

Nussbaum consults with clients every day.

He said it is critical to be an active listener with each client. It's important to listen to learn their needs.

Each person has a story to tell, and Nussbaum enhances the story by tapping into the clients' inner star and producing the content effectively on tape.

Technical skills include writing and editing videos and DVDs. Conceptualizing and scripting are essential skills for this work.

Education: Nussbaum earned a bachelor's degree in mass communications from Emerson College with special training on AVID editing systems.

"An undergraduate degree is helpful but no special training is required. Rather, the technical, interpersonal and conceptual skills are learned on the job," he said.

"The learning is constant, and each day bring new challenges. A great source for professional development comes from your boss and clients."

Licensing is not required.

Salary: Depends on years of experience. Compensation as an entrepreneurial proprietor is unlimited.

Best part of job: Nussbaum enjoys making a video of a client's life. The tape is eternal and can be viewed by generations to follow.

The job also allows for lifelong learning and uses curiosity and creativity.

Worst part of job: High stress level because you have to meet deadlines. It is not the type of work for someone who wants a 9-to-5 job. Work often must be done on evenings and weekends because of the client's availability.

Keys to success: Temperamentally, you must have a thick skin and not take things personally, Nussbaum said. It's important to leave your ego on the doorstep.

"Storytelling concisely, with an opening, a middle and an end, is critical to success," he added.

Words of wisdom: "You're only as good as your last story, shoot or research."

My Job is a regular feature about local people and their jobs. It was reported by Joseph Wardy, a freelance writer. If you would like to suggest a person to be profiled, call Kathy Shwiff at(973) 428-6650 or send e-mail to kshwiff@gannett.com.
